I recently moved and now live in the inner city of Toledo, Ohio known by many as “the hood”. I’m hoping my presence here will help “strengthen the neighbor in the hood!”
Many of the inner city children walk hungry to attend Vision Ministries (on South & Broadway in Toledo, Ohio)without their parents. I am so touched by the inner strength, compassion and nurturing many of the older children (grades 3rd thru 6th) children have for their younger siblings in the children’s church. There are many babies raising babies in this neighboorhood!
Many of these children walk here with no parental supervision! Yes, many of these children are walking on streets that I will not walk alone on without pepper spray, and even then I feel scared!
It is a different world down here! So many people talk about wanting to do missionary work. If you really want to do missionary work I encourage you to start out volunteering at Vision Ministries or any other Bible teaching inner city outreach. You do not have to go to a different continent or country to go to a different world!
The natural God-given compassion these little children have for their siblings is incredible!
Can you help provide snacks and/or lunches 1 time per month for 50 inner city children@ Vision Ministries? Maybe this is something you could do as a charity project with some friends or family.
Anything you can do to help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED! Wheat bread, lunch meat, sliced cheese, drink boxes, individually packaged snacks (Crackers, chips, cookies, fruit snacks, pretzels, Cheez-Its, etc…) Keep your receipt, have Vision Ministries sign and date when they received it and you can use it as a tax deductible donation! Woo hoo! 
Last week someone got bread, lunch meat, cheese slices and drink boxes for 40 kids all for about $25 bucks. If you can help in any way PLEASE let Children’s Pastor Dawn Beiry know ASAP! She is actually in need of items for this Sunday – so if you can help let her know right away. THANKS SO MUCH! (PS. They had bologna last Sunday.)
